Yesterday morning there were thick clouds and fog which once again<\/em> kept me from going into the field to look for and to photograph birds. Later in the day, the sun was able to break through the clouds for a while so I went down to the local pond.<\/p>\n

I spotted three Redheads, a pair of American Wigeons, and one first winter Common Goldeneye drake but not one of those ducks came in close enough to photograph. The rest of the birds I saw were the grebes, coots, mallards, gulls, and geese that are usually at the pond.<\/p>\n

Although I wasn’t seeing any birds that were real exciting at least I was outside and not cooped up at home for a few minutes.<\/p>\n

A few Canada Geese flew overhead, circled the pond and as they prepared to land I locked focus on one goose and followed its path towards the surface of the pond. I was\u00a0 hoping for images of an unusual pose or something different from all the thousands of photos I have taken of the geese at the pond over the years.<\/p>\n

And then it<\/em> happened. One photo that made me laugh as soon as I saw it on my camera’s LCD screen, a peek-a-boo Canada Goose peering at me through its wing tips as it came in to land on the pond. Or is it a goose taking a swan dive into the pond? I’d give it a 10 if that were the case, just look at that form!<\/p>\n

Life is good. Having a sense of humor helps. Sometimes, it really, really helps.<\/p>\n
