As much as I love to take close up or frame filling images of my bird and wildlife subjects I also enjoy taking longer distance photos of them too because that can easily show the environments I find them in. At times that includes the plains, desert, shorelines, grasslands, and mountains here in Utah and more often than not that means my subject is small in the frame. Sometimes it is all about the “mood” I can see and feel through my viewfinder.<\/p>\n

In the case of this photo of a lone Canada Goose flying in front of the snowy Wasatch Mountains I took the photo because I liked how nicely lit the goose was in contrast to the darker, snow and cloud covered mountains. The goose was circling to come in for a landing on a pond where I was photographing other ducks, geese, coots and grebes when it caught my eyes.<\/p>\n
