Last spring, summer and fall I spent a lot of time photographing birds in the Wasatch Mountains. I enjoyed observing, learning from and photographing the variety of bird species I found from the time the roads opened in spring until they closed due to snow and tricky road conditions.<\/p>\n

Recently I was able to spend time photographing American Robins in the snow feeding on fruit down here in the valley and they reminded me of all the robins I photographed up in the mountains last year and this photo in particular.<\/p>\n

I’d been enjoying photographing American Robins and other birds feeding on serviceberries and chokecherries that were close the roads, some times the action was fast and I had difficulty keeping up with all the birds coming in to gorge on the ripened fruits but there were also times when the action slowed down and I could spend a little more time looking around.<\/p>\n

When I saw this immature American Robin perched in some bushes that were starting to show the colors of autumn I knew I wanted to photograph it, so I did.<\/p>\n

This specific photo caught my eye while reviewing the images I took of this young robin because of the pose, it almost looks as if the bird is being coy or bashful. I know that it wasn’t but somehow it still appeals to me more than the other images of this same robin where it wasn’t posed like this. I also like the hint of autumn colors in this frame.<\/p>\n

The wind is howling outside my window again this morning and the satellite shows clouds overhead so it looks like another day spent going through and culling older images for me.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
