I haven’t photographed as many American Tree Sparrows this winter as I would have liked to have taken because they have been harder for me to find in the locations where I have seen them in the past.<\/p>\n

Before too long these small but handsome American Tree Sparrows will be winging their way north to their breeding grounds in the thickets and open tundra of northern Canada and Alaska.<\/p>\n

I only took a few images of these sparrows this winter and most of those were taken not long after they arrived here in northern Utah.<\/p>\n

Between bad weather, bad luck, and bad timing I just haven’t had many great opportunities with this species while they have been here this season.<\/p>\n

These two American Tree Sparrow photos were taken almost one year ago on Antelope Island State Park<\/span><\/a> soon after a fresh snow had fallen on a bright, sunny morning.<\/p>\n

I always look forward to the arrival of American Tree Sparrows and I am always reluctant to see them head back north to their breeding grounds. I hope I can take a few more photos of these sparrows before they migrate.<\/p>\n
