I was looking through some of the photos I took last year while my mother was here visiting me in northern Utah and when I came across the photos of the Yellow-bellied Marmots I showed her I couldn’t help but smile.<\/p>\n

The marmots were “lifer” animals for mom and we sat in my Jeep watching the pups on the rocks while the female kept an eye on them.<\/p>\n

Mom took photos with her cell phone and point & shoot camera while I used my longer lens.<\/p>\n

I wanted to show her this burrow because it was where I had photographed one of the marmot pups climbing a fence<\/span><\/a> just a few weeks earlier.<\/p>\n

We didn’t get to see any of the pups climbing the fence that morning but it was fun to watch the pups interacting and playing with each other.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite photos from that session with the marmots that morning was this one where the pups were greeting each other outside the burrow.<\/p>\n

I’m not sure why I hadn’t processed and shared this photo of the marmot pups that were taken exactly one year ago today.<\/p>\n

We didn’t stay long at the Yellow-bellied Marmot<\/span><\/a> burrow because I wanted to take my mom to the Spiral Jetty<\/span><\/a> and we still had a long, dusty way to go but we enjoyed the time we had with the pups.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
