I spent a few moments watching and photographing a Least Chipmunk yesterday in the Wasatch Mountains<\/span><\/a> and tried to savor every second I had with it.<\/p>\n

It won’t be long before I won’t see these cute and tiny rodents until spring thaw so every chance I get to photograph them now is a treat.<\/p>\n

This chipmunk spent some time on a lichen-covered fence post, on the fence rail, walking across the barbed wire fence, and scratching an itch.<\/p>\n

Some of the funniest photos I took of it were from when the chippy was scratching that itch and I will try to share some of those later in another post.<\/p>\n

The other fuzzy critters I will miss seeing over the winter are Uinta Ground Squirrels and Yellow-bellied Marmots. I saw just one Yellow-bellied Marmot last week and only heard a few Uinta Ground Squirrels calling.<\/p>\n

I don’t feel like I’ve gotten my fill of seeing or photographing any of them this year. It is so much fun to watch them go about their lives.<\/p>\n

I’ll keep photographing the chipmunks every chance I get from now until I stop going into the mountains for the winter.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n

I took these images with my Nikon D500 with my 500mm VR and 1.4x TC attached, other settings were f10, shutter speeds between 1\/1000 and 1\/1250, and my ISO was set at 640.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>
