When I photographed this immature Yellow-rumped Warbler two days ago I couldn’t tell what prey it had snagged so I was surprised when I got home and saw that the warbler had snatched a damselfly. Sometimes the bird activity is so frenzied that it is all I can do to keep the birds in my viewfinder and at times I miss seeing everything through it.<\/p>\n

It was frigid that morning at Farmington Bay WMA<\/span><\/a> which makes me wonder if the damselfly hadn’t been attached to a leaf or a stalk of grass because it was still too cold to fly.<\/p>\n

To my dismay I missed out on photographing the young Yellow-rumped Warbler actually eating the damselfly. I may have taken my eyes off of the warbler while spotting another bird, I am not sure but I felt like kicking my butt for not getting that shot. Oh, well. Stuff happens.<\/p>\n

Although the throat of this young warbler is pale I can see hints of yellow in the feathers of its throat so I would say that this is an Audubon’s Yellow-rumped Warbler and not a Myrtle.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
