Male Yellow-headed Blackbirds (Xanthocephalus xanthocephalus<\/em>) are flashy birds but I believe the females have a subtle beauty too.<\/p>\n

I photographed this female Yellow-headed Blackbird perched on a Rabbitbrush on the shoreline of the Great Salt Lake<\/span><\/a>. Her yellow might not be as bright as a male’s but the yellow tones she has are rich and combined very nicely with the cocoa brown of the rest of her plumage.<\/p>\n
