\"NorthernNorthern Shoveler in a morning fog \u2013 Nikon D500, f6.3, 1\/4000, ISO 640, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light<\/span><\/p>\n

Three days ago there was a little bit of fog at Farmington Bay WMA while the sun was coming up over the Wasatch Mountains which set up the conditions I needed to take this Northern Shoveler photo.<\/p>\n

The Northern Shoveler is in silhouette because I was looking in the direction of the rising sun instead of having the sun over my shoulder but when I saw the mist, the ducks floating by, and the sunlight reflecting off the water I knew I had to take a few images just to see how they turned out. The scene had a dreamy look to it through my viewfinder and in the final results that I am happy with.<\/p>\n

The darker areas of the photo are from the mountains in the background still being in the shadows and the reflection of those mountains on the water.<\/p>\n

I also took a few images of a resting Ruddy Duck that I may share later.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
