I photograph House Finches often enough but I sure don’t seem to share many photos of them. Quite a few of the photos I take of House Finches have them in settings where they just seem to blend in with their surroundings and those photos don’t do these birds justice. Having this male House Finch<\/span><\/a> perched in a frost kissed Greasewood a few days ago with blue sky behind it did make him stand out well. I liked how the autumn Greasewood has some of the same reddish tones found in the plumage of the male House Finch and how the bird and the branch stood out nicely from the blue sky.<\/p>\n

This male House Finch also stood out nicely from the blue sky in the background. This male’s red plumage doesn’t seem as vivid as the male in the first photo but that isn’t unusual for these finches. Some males are just brighter than others.<\/p>\n

This morning when I checked the long range weather forecast I see that some snow might fall within the next week and I think I want to get my bird feeders set up to try to photograph House Finches in the snow. I think I’d love to have images of them in a snowy setting.<\/p>\n
