Winter is a great time for Bald Eagle photography in northern Utah. They can be found reliably in locations that include Farmington Bay WMA<\/span><\/a>, Ogden Bay WMA<\/span><\/a>, and Bear River MBR<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Overwintering Bald Eagles can also be found in other locations including mountain canyons, reservoirs, perched on power poles along the 1-15, I-80, I-84 interstate corridors or check out Salt Lake County’s waste management facilities during the winter. Head up into the mountains and Bald Eagles can be found resting in tall trees along rivers and on cliffs. I’ve even seen them in town close to city parks and ponds. Head out to Antelope Island State Park and keep an eye out for Bald Eagles along the causeway to the island and on the island itself. Or head way up north and look for Bald Eagles near Howell or Snowville. This time of the year I see Bald Eagles all over northern Utah.<\/p>\n

So if you don’t enjoy the craziness that can happen at Farmington Bay WMA when the Bald Eagles arrive for the winter just pick an area and go for a relaxed drive to another location. Chances are you’ll find a Bald Eagle or two or 10 somewhere away from the crowds. I usually do.<\/p>\n
