Earlier this month I spotted my first of year Vesper Sparrow way up north in Box Elder County and since then I have been looking for them closer to home in the Wasatch Mountains. I can’t wait to hear a Vesper Sparrow singing<\/span><\/a>. It might seem like a small thing but I really enjoy listening to their songs.<\/p>\n

When I found my first of the year Vesper Sparrow this year it was too far away to get any high quality images of it but I was able to take a few that confirmed my identification. I “whooped” out loud when I viewed the sparrow on my camera LCD screen.<\/p>\n

The Vesper Sparrow photo above was taken in May of 2018 on Antelope Island State Park.<\/p>\n

I know some people think that Vesper Sparrows are just “little brown birds” but they sure get me excited when I see them and when I can hear them it is an added bonus for my ears and that lifts my spirits.<\/p>\n
