I don’t have many photos of MacGillivray\u2019s Warblers in my portfolio and I hope that while they are here for their breeding season this year I can change that. I think they are beautiful warblers but they seem to be shy for the most part and I don’t often find them out in the open. Most of the time I see them only partially out in the open as is shown in the photo above.<\/p>\n

This female MacGillivray\u2019s Warbler popped into view briefly two years ago high in the Wasatch Mountains<\/span><\/a> and even though she never came out into the open I enjoyed how she was surrounded by the white blooms of a Utah Serviceberry. My glimpses of this species look like this more often than not. I don’t even mind the busy setting, in fact I like it a lot.<\/p>\n

To photograph these warblers and other woodland birds I’ve found that I need to find a location that attracts multiple species with abundant food and shelter and then use a sit and wait approach. It takes patience but they are worth the wait.<\/p>\n
