Radar and Weather Map for Salt Lake City, Utah – June, 29, 2020<\/p><\/div>\n

I woke this morning and opened my living room window to the smell of rain in the air and even in the darkness I could see that the street was wet and I am okay with that, we need the moisture. The rain might even help with the wildfires we have burning here in northern Utah.<\/p>\n

When I looked at the radar and weather map this morning I could see that snow is falling in the high Uintas and I chuckled because the day after tomorrow is the first of July. The weather can be very changeable in the mountains here in the Intermountain West<\/span><\/span>. Then when I zoomed in on the weather map I could see that some snow is also falling in the Wasatch Mountains just east of where I live.<\/p>\n

I pulled up the forecast for Park City, Utah and I saw that the current temp was 35\u00b0F when I started writing this post plus I saw this forecast for that area today:<\/p>\n

Rain and snow showers this morning. A shower or two in the afternoon – otherwise, mostly cloudy. High 54F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%.<\/p>\n

Some of the the places I head to when I am looking for birds in the Wasatch Mountains will be a touch on the chilly side this morning.<\/p>\n

This cooler weather and rain won’t last long though because by Thursday we will be in the 90’s again in the Salt Lake Valley. Honestly I wish this cooler weather would have arrived near the 4th of July to help with the fires that could and will probably be started by people shooting off fireworks.<\/p>\n

This morning though I have been thinking about the birds in the mountains. Hopefully the nesting birds and the chicks that have just barely fledged will do okay up in the high country where the temps are cooler than they are here at home. I do know that birds can be tougher than we sometimes give them credit for. Even the delicate looking hummingbirds.<\/p>\n
