In the right light Brewer’s Blackbird males are very colorful because their feathers glow with blue, green, and purple iridescence. I photographed this male last week at Glover Pond at Farmington Bay WMA when the light angle showed off the wonderful iridescent qualities of his feathers.<\/p>\n

In some light they look like plain, black birds. Just moments before I took this photo I had taken images of a male that was further away and that bird appeared to have glossy black feathers on its head and body through my viewfinder.<\/p>\n

But this male… well the iridescent colors seemed to shimmer and pop in the morning light.<\/p>\n

I was only going to share one photo of the Brewer’s Blackbird this morning but I really liked the nearly head on view the bird gave me in this image. It looks like he is practicing his “Angry Bird” look while showing off his colorful feathers.<\/p>\n

I really messed up last night by falling asleep early and<\/em> I also forgot to change the time on my bedside clock. This morning I thought I was getting up just before my “normal” time and instead it was slightly before 2:30 in the morning. Ugh. This is going to be a loooong day.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
