I spent my morning up in the Wasatch Mountains<\/span><\/a> yesterday and came home with photos of bluebells, currants, warblers, and a duck. Mountain Bluebells have begun to bloom and I took this photo of them from across a creek. My images of the bluebells reminded me of an intricate and colorful tapestry.<\/p>\n

Last week I noticed that the Golden Currants were beginning to bloom in the high country so yesterday I took a few photos of their bright, yellow blossoms.<\/p>\n

Golden Currants that are blooming now provide nectar for bees and hummingbirds. Later in the season when the currants are ripe they will also be food for birds fueling up for migration. The ripened currants will be food for chipmunks and squirrels too.<\/p>\n

Practically everywhere I went yesterday morning I heard Yellow Warblers singing and calling. I took this image of a male Yellow warbler singing on a stump next to a creek. The stump shows signs of damage done by another creature. Beavers have chewed the branches off to either create a dam or for food.<\/p>\n

Female Yellow Warblers also found themselves in my viewfinder yesterday morning. This one was perched high up in a clump of willows with her head slightly titled. Maybe she was watching a male Yellow Warbler singing or perhaps she was watching me.<\/p>\n

There were also a few drake Mallards in one of the locations I sat at and they were preening and bathing in the cool waters of a creek. I enjoyed photographing this drake as he bathed and shook water droplets all over the place.<\/p>\n

These photos represent just a few of the highlights of my morning in the mountains.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
