I haven’t had many opportunities to take Willow Flycatcher photos so far this year but two days ago I had one in my view finder and took images of it. I’ve been seeing a Willow Flycatchers in this area for weeks now but its favorite perch is nearly hidden from my view. I suspect the flycatcher has a nest nearby because it often chases away other birds that come into the area.<\/p>\n

Two days ago the Willow Flycatcher left its favorite perch and flew in close enough that I was able to take a series of photos of it in front of a small willow thicket.<\/p>\n

I believe the small white streak on the crown of this flycatcher is where it got splashed by the poop of another bird. Click the image above to view larger.<\/p>\n

Then the flycatcher flew down low and landed on a branch in front of green grasses for a few seconds. I like the background in this photo a lot.<\/p>\n

Side note: The willows in the Wasatch Mountain<\/span><\/a> canyon where I photographed this flycatcher are showing signs of distress from our continuing drought. Many of their leaves are yellow, curled, unhealthy looking, and stunted. I am concerned. More than concerned actually.<\/p>\n

This last photo shows the Willow Flycatcher high in the small willow thicket on a dead branch. The dark blob below the flycatcher is a photo-bombing Brown-headed Cowbird.<\/p>\n

It was wonderful to have this flycatcher in my viewfinder for a few minutes.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
