I photographed this adult House Wren last week while I was up in the Wasatch Mountains<\/span><\/a> looking for birds and cooling off in higher elevation temperatures. This wren had brought prey to their nearby nest and when it popped back out of the nest it landed directly in front of me and perched there for a few moments.<\/p>\n

The House Wrens got up into the Wasatch Mountains later than normal this year but there are plenty of them singing and nesting up there now. I usually hear these small wrens before I see them.<\/p>\n

I hope this wren and their mate are successful rearing their young in the larger diameter rusty metal pipe<\/span><\/a> that is attached to this one. I am concerned about how hot that metal pipe gets when the sun is high overhead but I know of other House Wrens and Mountain Bluebirds that are nesting in rusty metal pipes in the mountains this season so perhaps my concern isn’t truly justified.<\/p>\n

I hope the House Wrens do well and that their chicks will fledge when I can photograph them leaving the nest.<\/p>\n
