\"CallingCalling Spotted Sandpiper chick and its shadow<\/span><\/p>\n

I haven’t seen any Spotted Sandpiper chicks in a location in the Wasatch Mountains<\/span><\/a> where I normally see them at this time of the year but I have these from last summer. Not seeing the chicks might be due to a mink family<\/span><\/a> that has been in the area this year. I miss seeing the tiny, butt bobbing Spotted Sandpiper chicks but I accept it as being part of nature. The last time I was in the area I didn’t even see an adult Spotted Sandpiper so they may have moved on.<\/p>\n

In other locations along this creek I have heard adult Spotted Sandpipers making the call I have learned that they make when they are letting their chicks know that they are nearby and keeping watch over them so I know that some Spotted Sandpiper chicks have thrived along the creek in that canyon.<\/p>\n

Because I take so many photos when I am out in the field I often have images that I have forgotten about if the season is real busy and today I am sharing some images of Spotted Sandpiper chicks I took almost a year ago that I was delighted to find.<\/p>\n

I’d driven up into the mountains early in the morning and spent time alone photographing this chick after the sun rose over the mountain tops. It was quiet, peaceful, relaxing, and my focus was zeroed in on this little cutie.<\/p>\n
