While looking through my archives yesterday I came across this image of a Vesper Sparrow I photographed last September near a freshwater seep in Box Elder County<\/span><\/a>. I liked the pose of the Vesper Sparrow leaving the Fragrant Sumac so I decided to share it here this morning. The habitat is mostly desert but the freshwater seep<\/span><\/a> and abundant shrubs and grasses in the area are attractive to several species of sparrows during migration. Personally I have photographed at least eleven species of sparrows near that seep.<\/p>\n

That September morning was smoky enough that it partially blocked the sunlight and at times caused a color cast to my images. I had to bump up my ISO to obtain fast enough shutter speeds to freeze the action that day.<\/p>\n

I took a little over 2,000 images on that smoky September morning and I still haven’t gone through them all. I should because there are some real gems in that folder.<\/p>\n
