I went looking for birds yesterday but my best photos were of a clump of Common Bugloss, an introduced wildflower, in bloom. The sky was cloudy and smoke filled the air so the light wasn’t great at all.<\/p>\n

I should be seeing birds fattening up on berries for their fall migration. The drought messed up berry production this year in many of the locations I go to out in the field. Finding birds in the mountains has been tough. Finding birds I can actually photograph, even tougher.<\/p>\n

I did see a late Yellow-breasted Chat, an adult Bald Eagle fly over, several Song Sparrows, Cedar Waxwings, a flock of Canada Geese flying by, Black-capped Chickadees, a Mallard hen, and tons of Barn Swallows zipping around in the sky.<\/p>\n

It is okay though. I still enjoyed being out in the field and the photos of the Common Bugloss were a nice consolation for missing out on taking bird photos.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good.<\/p>\n
