When I was way up north in Box Elder County<\/span><\/a> three days ago I had the opportunity to take immature White-crowned Sparrow photos with fall colors in the frames. The leaves of Fragrant Sumac shrubs ranged from yellow, orange, red, to russet brown because of the cooler weather we have been having. After months of having tans and beige summer hues in my images it is always a delight to have some fall colors in my bird photos.<\/p>\n

There were plenty of immature and adult White-crowned Sparrows to focus on near the sumacs and a desert seep. The cheery calls and songs<\/span><\/a> of these sparrows were wonderful to hear even when they weren’t in my viewfinder.<\/p>\n

While I photographed these immature White-crowned Sparrows I kept an eye out for my first of season American Tree and Lincoln’s Sparrows but wasn’t able to find any. Perhaps with the cold fronts that have been moving through I’ll be able to photograph them the next time I head that far north.<\/p>\n

It is great though to see the White-crowned Sparrows at lower elevations now because during the summer I rarely see them unless I am up high in the mountains. I was more than happy to have these two young sparrows in my viewfinder.<\/p>\n
