It was a truly gloomy day when I spotted this immature Red-tailed Hawk<\/span><\/a> perched in a tree with many branches at Farmington Bay last December. The white bib of the young raptor stood out like a beacon in the gloom which caught my eyes and drew my attention to this bird. The whiteness of the bib made the zig-zag pattern of its belly band seem even more pronounced to my eyes.<\/p>\n

This young Red-tailed Hawk was a good distance from the road where I was located and I knew I wasn’t going to get frame-filling images of the bird but I liked the setting, the branches of the tree, the mountains in the background, plus the look of concentration that the immature hawk seemed to have.<\/p>\n

I guess that some people might think the multitude of branches in this photo are distracting but as usual I take my photos for myself and not for or to impress other people. I love and appreciate this image just as it is.<\/p>\n
