When I took this winter view of Bear River MBR four days ago a winter storm was approaching from the northwest and the clouds were moving in. It was a morning filled with birds and frustrations because I was having issues with heat wave distortion and I knew that I was going to be unhappy with the quality of most of the bird photos that I took and I was.<\/p>\n

I was happy and thrilled with the winter views of the marsh and wetlands, seeing snow, and the snow covered Promontory Mountains. Last winter I didn’t see much snow at all on the Promontory Mountains so seeing it blanketing the mountains was a nice treat for my eyes.<\/p>\n

Most of the time when I am out on the marshes of Bear River MBR I feel a sense of peace, a calmness within, and more importantly a deep connection to our natural world.<\/p>\n

Last year I sort of got out of the habit of taking photos of the landscapes and habitats where I find birds in part because of the issues I had with my Nikon D500’s mirror getting stuck and me using my D810 as my primary camera body for several months. My D500 was repaired and the shutter assembly was replaced last October which means I am back to using the D500 as my primary camera body and the D810 as my backup and landscape or close up camera. I just need to remind myself to grab my D810 more frequently to take images of the locations that I see while I am out in the field.<\/p>\n

This morning I have many things on my plate that I have to attend to or I would head up to Bear River MBR<\/span><\/a> despite the fog, gray clouds, and gloomy weather forecast. On this 6th day of January I feel like I need and could use a soothing dose of nature.<\/p>\n

Life is<\/em> good. Birds and nature make it even better.<\/p>\n
