I can’t resist them.

I’ve always loved birds and from the time I was a small child I was fascinated by them, from the common American Robin to the majestic birds of prey, they drew me in. For me they were and are all visual delights and my bird photography has brought me closer to them both physically and emotionally. It is amazing to have a tiny shorebird like this plover walk up within 5 feet of where I laid in the sand.

No matter how crazy life can be when I have birds in my viewfinder I can relax and focus entirely on them and the beauty of the natural world.

Life is good.

Mia

Click here to see more of my Piping Plover images plus facts and information about this species.

Shorebirds; like this tiny Piping Plover I photographed on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico, are the primary reason I became addicted to bird photography.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

27,25,704,178
4039,4021,4083,1114,14752,173,4077,3980,4323,5841,275,4891,274,3996
post-9981","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-avian","category-florida","category-fort-de-soto-county-park","category-piping-plovers","tag-beach","tag-bird-photography","tag-birding","tag-charadrius-melodus","tag-coastal-island","tag-gulf-coast","tag-gulf-of-mexico","tag-pinellas-county","tag-piping-plover","tag-plover","tag-plovers","tag-shore","tag-shorebirds-2","tag-water

https://www.onthewingphotography.com/wings/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/piping-plover-florida-gulf-mia-mcpherson-9730.jpg
Piping Plovers nest in shallow scrapes in sand, gravel, salt flats or dunes which leaves their nests vulnerable to predators and in danger of being accidentally stepped on.
Foraging Piping Plover at the shore of the Gulf of Mexico.
