  • Greater White-fronted Geese are medium-sized waterfowl with mottled gray-brown bodies, pink bills, and a distinctive white patch at the base of the bill. Males are slightly larger than females.
  • Greater White-fronted Geese are long-distance migrants. They breed in the northernmost parts of North America, such as Canada and Alaska, and winter in the southern United States and Mexico. They thrive in a variety of habitats, including tundra, marshes, wetlands, and agricultural fields.
  • Greater White-fronted Geese primarily feed on grasses, grains, and agricultural crops such as rice, wheat, and barley.
  • Greater White-fronted Geese lay 3 to 6 eggs which hatch in 22 to 28 days. Both sexes incubate and they are monogamous.
  • Greater White-fronted Geese are also known as “Specklebellies” due to the speckled appearance on their bellies.
