  • Long-tailed Weasels have brownish backs, long brown tails with black tips and white to yellowish undersides during the summer, during the winter they are snowy white and retain the black tipped tails. Long-tailed Weasels in the southern parts of their range may stay brown.
  • Females can be 10 to 15% smaller than males.
  • Long-tailed Weasels habitats include woodlands, open areas, thickets, and farmlands, They usually love near a water source.
  • Long-tailed Weasels can be found from southern Canada, throughout most of the lower 48 of the U.S., Mexico, Central and South America.
  • Long-tailed Weasels prey on mice, voles, rats, squirrels, chipmunks, shrews, moles and rabbits. They will also take small birds, eggs, reptiles, fish, worms, amphibians, and insects.
  • Long-tailed Weasels have 5 to 8 young which are called kits.
