Welcome!
On The Wing Photography contains posts with my photos plus the authentic stories behind my images. Additionally, you can visit my extensive photo galleries which contain more than 14,000 images of birds, wildlife, flowers, and trees along with photos of the incredible landscapes I visit.
My dream for my site was to be unique and my real life experiences in the field certainly are. For ten years, from May 2, 2015 to May 2, 2025, I never missed a single day of sharing posts.
I am a female photographer and nature writer who travels often to find birds and wildlife.

The Stories Behind My Images
I Saw My First Forster’s Terns At Sequoyah NWR
On my most recent trip to Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge, I saw, but didn’t photograph, Forster’s Terns flying and hunting over Sally Jones Lake.
One Very Territorial Northern Mockingbird
Over the past several weeks, this Northern Mockingbird has grown increasingly territorial at my friend Steve Creek's bird feeders. It has become a terror bird!
ABA Birding Magazine – December 2024 – My Clark’s Grebe Cover
My Clark's Grebe photo graces the cover of the ABA's Birding Magazine December 2024 edition, and I wanted to share the cover along with what I wrote about it.
