White-winged Dove Images, Facts and Information:

  • White-winged Doves are medium sized doves with gray-brown upperparts, gray underparts, small black crescents under their eyes, their wings are dark gray and they had broad white stripes.
  • White-winged Doves are migratory.
  • White-winged Doves can be found in open country with dense thickets as well as agricultural and suburban areas within their range. They breed primarily in the southwestern U.S.  and southern Texas. There are populations in Florida that seemingly were introduced. Currently White-winged Doves are expanding their range northward.
  • The diet of White-winged Doves is primarily seeds though they also consume grains and fruits.
  • White-winged Doves lay 2 eggs which hatch in 13 to 14 days. Both sexes incubate and they are monogamous.
  • A group of doves can be called a “flight”, “cote”, “dole” and “bevy” of doves.
  • White-winged Doves can live to be more than 21 years of age.
