The weather and deer hunting season have been keeping me out of the field, so I went into my archives and found this Tufted Titmouse with fall colors in the background.

I’m seeing and hearing Tufted Titmice here in the yard. So far, I just haven’t been able to photograph them out in the open with fall colors in the background this year.

I took this titmouse photo last year in my friend Steve Creek’s yard at his feeders.

I’m enjoying daily doses of Tufted Titmouse cuteness. I just wish I was having better opportunities for having them out in the open and in my viewfinder.

I didn’t get to see, hear, or photograph this titmouse species while I lived in Utah. We had Juniper Titmice there, and they weren’t exactly easy to find or photograph. I had my best opportunities with them on solo journeys to the sky island mountains of the West Desert.

Driving slow and listening for their calls really helped.

Even then, it was a challenge to get the Juniper Titmice in focus in my viewfinder because they didn’t stay still for long.

Maybe today I’ll have better luck with the Tufted Titmice here. That would be wonderful.

Life is good.

Mia
