I remember a day when my friend Rich Ditch posted an Avocet “butt shot” image on a critique gallery that we are both members of. I had seen the thumbnail but wasn’t prepared for the laughter that would erupt from me when I viewed the larger image, I almost had coffee all over my keyboard!
It was so funny that it has inspired me to look for and take images of birds that make me laugh. After all, who doesn’t need a bit of humor once in awhile?
Marbled Godwit scratching – Got an itch? – D200, handheld, f6.3, 1/1000, ISO 200, 80-400mm VR at 400mm, natural light
Some funny images seem to beg for funny captions. If you can think of any for the photo above or below, let me know!
Black-bellied Plover preening “dance” – D200, handheld, f6.3, 1/800, ISO 160, 80-400mm VR at 340mm, natural light
Looks to me like the Black-bellied Plover has taken lessons on how to do the “Funky Chicken”.
I’ll post more of these funny images here as I come across them in my files. It doesn’t hurt to share a little humor.
Life is good. It is even better with laughter.
Mia
PS: No birds were harmed while creating these photos.

Thanks for the inspiration: I think I will add a new category on my blog.
