Almost two years ago, April Olson traveled with me into the Uinta Mountains of Utah, where I photographed these blooming Wright’s Buckwheat.

It was my first, and so far only, time seeing and photographing this beautiful pink native wildflower. The individual flowers were tiny and blooming in profusion, but on the stems they looked glorious.

At the top of the pass, April and I bailed out of my Jeep, then scrambled around like mountain goats on the rocks, photographing the amazing wildflowers we found.

And there were many!

April was great company on that trip into the Uintas, and we both welcomed the coolness high in the mountains. It had been very hot that summer in the Salt Lake Valley.

We also took photos of plenty of birds that morning, some of which I have already shared.

Wildflowers bloom later in the mountains, and I was very happy with the photos I took of them that day.

Life is good. I miss spending time with you, April.
