Back in May I was delighted to photograph this fluffed-up Spotted Sandpiper in breeding plumage while I was near the water at Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge.
Spotted Sandpiper in breeding plumage at Sequoyah NWR
The very next day at the refuge, I spotted more of these sandpipers on the Arkansas River. I wrote a post about them and shared a few photos: Surfing Spotted Sandpipers On The Arkansas River
Because I was so excited about seeing and photographing Spotted Sandpipers surfing down the Arkansas River on logs, I forgot I had edited this photo and tucked it away in my folder of images I wanted to share.
I felt like today was a great day to share this Spotted Sandpiper photo.
I’m keeping this short. I’ve been tied up with two projects this week and haven’t had much time with my camera in hand, but I’m hoping to fix that soon.
I need birds and time in nature.
Life is good.

I also thought Sandpipers were beach bums. Go figure. Nice shot. Thanks Mia.
Thanks for sharing. I’ve always thought sand pipers were only near sea shores. I’m Happy to o learn you can find them elsewhere. Stay dry. I hope it doesn’t rain too much.
