Barn Owl flight with snowy mountainsBarn Owl flight with snowy mountains – Nikon D810, f7.1, 1/4000, ISO 500, +0.3 EV, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light, not baited

Seeing and photographing a Barn Owl at Farmington Bay recently made me think of the times I have photographed these owls on clear winter days in northern Utah. I have photographed Barn Owls in low light, fog and in blowing snow and I truly enjoy those images but I love it when I have clear, bright wintry days to photograph these lovely owls, especially if there is snow in the frame or snowy mountains in the background.

Earlier this year in January I was able to photograph a Barn Owl in flight flying directly towards me with the snowy Promontory Mountains in the background while at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. This owl made several passes back and forth along the auto tour route before it flew off into the marsh.

Any day with an owl in it is a good day.

Life is good.
