Some of the bird photos I take make me laugh and this goofy looking Canada Goose lifting off from the marsh at Bear River MBR is one of them. I took this photo on April of this year and have been meaning to share it and today is as good as any day to do that.

Because it was still spring and their breeding season the male Canada Geese were still being territorial and protective of their mates. Outside of our view on the left side of this frame two other geese had flown into the phrags and which upset the pair seen in this photo. I’m not sure why one goose lifted off normally and one lifted off in this goofy pose but it made me laugh that morning and it is making me laugh again today.

I know that Canada Geese are very abundant within their range and that some people even find them annoying. I don’t and I hope I never do. Every bird I see is worth photographing and having in my viewfinder.

Any way, I hope that the goofy pose of this Canada Goose makes other people laugh and smile too.

Life is good.

Mia
