Just a quick post about my American Snout butterfly lifer taken in my friend Steve Creek’s garden in Arkansas. This is my first photo of this butterfly species.

American Snout butterflies are small brown butterflies with a distinctive elongated snout-like ‘nose’. I knew this was a snout butterfly right away because I have seen them before. Then I used iNaturalist to narrow down and figure out the species.

I wish I had been a little closer to this winged beauty, but the butterfly took off into the breeze before I could get closer.

The light was just right though!

Life is good.
