Today I’m sharing a simple Great Spangled Fritillary photo taken yesterday while the butterfly nectared on a butterfly bush here in Arkansas.
Great Spangled Fritillary in Arkansas
I was glad to see the fritillary butterfly in the garden. So far this year, I haven’t seen or photographed many butterflies at all. As much as I love bird photography, I also adore photographing other things with wings.
Today marks the second anniversary of the last day I had a conversation with my mother before her rapid physical and mental decline in hospice. Mom passed away just a few days later, on the Fourth of July.
I know it’s going to be a rough day for me. I’m hoping that being out in nature and sharing the great company of my dear friend Steve Creek and his amazing dog, Rosie, will help too.
Life is still good.

Oh, Mia. These anniversaries are so hard. Our love for our moms never fades, and neither do the memories. Like you, I still feel the ache of loss. I am glad you have Steve and Rosie to help you get through it. ❤️
Hugs.
Mia – may this day also bring warmth and joy as you think of all of the great memories and wisdom your mother leaves forever in your heart and soul.
My day of sad-happy mother memories is today as well. They are butterflies in our dreams.
