Today is the first day of fall. I can’t help but think of Canada Geese on the wing, their calls echoing overhead like the season’s very own soundtrack.
Calling Canada Goose on the wing
There’s something about the way the geese move together, a rhythm that says, “Change is here, come along.”
Ducks too, gathering, shifting, ready for journeys that only they fully understand.
And then there are the leaves. Just beginning to blush with color, they give themselves away little by little, red here, gold there, as if autumn were carefully painting the edges before filling in the whole canvas.
I find myself watching closely, waiting for the moment when the green gives way completely.
These are the signals I look for, the ones that remind me that nothing stays the same.
Fall has always felt like a nudge forward, playful in its bright colors, wistful in its passing beauty, and hopeful in the way it opens the door to what’s next.
Change can hurt, but nature shows us it is not only inevitable, it can be beautiful too.
So today I’ll watch the sky, listen for geese, notice the leaves, and let the season remind me to keep moving forward.
Life, although uncertain, is good.
