Peeing CoyotePeeing Coyote – A little Privacy?

In August I was contacted about the use of my peeing Coyote image for Dave Barry’s 2014 Holiday Gift Guide and since I am a fan I decided to allow them to use it. I didn’t ask how they were going to use it because I wanted to be surprised. I mean, it is a peeing Coyote so however it was used I expected it to be funny.

A little background on the story behind the image: In October 2012 I was photographing the Coyote along the causeway to Antelope Island State Park as it traveled through the mudflats and then the Coyote stopped to pee. It was a pretty dull day but the Coyote stood out well from the mud. (I flipped the image horizontally so it is shown here as it is in the gift guide with the coyote facing to the right.)

Yesterday I was sent the link to Dave Barry’s 2014 Holiday Gift Guide in the Miami Herald and as I scrolled through the article and came across my coyote image I laughed so hard tears almost fell.

I love what he did with my Coyote, it is very Barry unique!

Laura Erickson; a Facebook friend, author and fellow bird lover, had her nighthawk tapeworm featured in Dave Barry’s 1994 Holiday Gift Guide. Dave called the tapeworm Roger and you can read about it here on Laura’s blog. Yes, a tapeworm. 🙂

Last night Laura and I were chatting and Laura said we should have a drink to celebrate our unique standing in the nature community.

And my reply: Maybe a Tequila with a worm.

Life is good. And funny.
