Snowy Egret at dawn

Snowy Egret at dawnSnowy Egret at dawn – Nikon D200, handheld, f5.6, 1/320, ISO 500, Nikkor 80-400mm VR at 400mm, natural light

I came across this Snowy Egret image a few days ago and wondered why I had never processed it. Truth be told I have thousands & thousands of images I haven’t processed yet.

I was on the beach early that morning as the sun was just beginning to crest the horizon, there were clouds to the west that picked up that glorious peachy color and it was reflected on the Gulf of Mexico but the sun had not yet lit up the Snowy Egret. This image would have been very challenging with film but thanks to digital I was able to capture the mood that I wanted.

I’m still wandering, feel free to share!

What a blissful start to your day. And to mine, half a world away.

A wonderful image! An interesting story on NPR this morning: “Audubon’s findings classify 314 species—nearly half of all North American birds—as severely threatened by global warming. Our interactive maps show how each of these at-risk birds’ potential ranges could expand, contract, or shift in both summer and winter as our climate changes.”

A BEAUTIFUL scene to start the day with…love (and miss)that soft, golden, peachy pink..and the soft air that went with it…so full of promise. Whenever I see that color, it reminds me of my grandfather…it showed up in so many of his paitings, e. those painted in the Coral Gables atea of Florida.

Stunning! Isn’t it amazing how each photo (even in thousands of them) can bring back such specific memories of a time and place. What a lovely lovely bird and the light is super!
