Golden Reflections and a Pied-billed GrebeGolden Reflections and a Pied-billed Grebe – Nikon D810, f6.3, 1.1250, ISO 500, -0.3 EV, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light

There are times that the setting is as important in an image as the subject in bird photography and here the golden reflections with just a hint of blue compliment the golden tones of the plumage of the Pied-billed Grebe.  This was taken this morning when the light still had a golden glow to it which added to the overall warm feeling of this frame.

I love Pied-billed Grebes because although they are small they are feisty and fun to watch. They will hang around until the water freezes and then they will head south and hopefully before they do I will have a chance to photograph them in falling snow. I have waited for those images a long time.

Life is good. Life can be golden.
