Adult Canada Goose on the wing on a January afternoon, Salt Lake County, UtahAdult Canada Goose on the wing on a January afternoon – Nikon D500, f7.1, 1/2500, ISO 800, Nikkor 500mm VR with 1.4x TC, natural light

This time of the year when I visit one of my local ponds and look east I have grand views of the snowy Wasatch Mountain Range and I always get excited when I can photograph a bird flying past those peaks. It doesn’t matter to me what species of bird it is, not one bit.

Even a Canada Goose looks majestic with the snow-covered Wasatch Mountains in the background. I photographed this Canada Goose as it flew in front of the snow and cloud covered mountains two afternoons ago after it lifted off from my local pond and flew towards the south.

When I lived in Florida I didn’t see mountains and I missed them deeply especially after spending four years living in Colorado Springs, Colorado where I could see the grandeur of Pike’s Peak from my windows.

I’ve grown to love and appreciate the mountain views I have here in Utah. When I can take photographs that combine my passion for birds with mountains in them I am one very happy woman.

Joy is just that simple for me.

Life is good.
