Today is a milestone day for me. I’m celebrating the fact that I have shared 3000 daily posts here at On The Wing Photography in a row.

That is eight years and two and a half months of sharing my photos of birds, wildlife, and nature, along with the stories behind the images, without a break.

I went back into my files to see what I was photographing on the day that I missed publishing a post and noticed that I was out in the wilderness of Idaho and Montana. The bird I photographed the most that day was this male Williamson’s Sapsucker at a fantastic nesting aspen. The aspen had several nesting cavities in it.

I had a terrific time photographing the nesting sapsuckers, nuthatches, bluebirds, and flickers at that tree that morning.

My posting streak was broken that day because I didn’t have a strong enough signal to write and publish anything. However, I’m not sorry to have been out in the wilderness, seeing, hearing, and savoring the birds, wildlife, and scenery I experienced that day.

I’m not sure how long I will keep up this writing and publishing streak, but today, just thinking about the number of words in the stories I have written and the photos I have shared over a 3000-day period, just boggles my brain!

3000 day milestone

Thanks for sharing this milestone with me. Even though I have been journaling my adventures since early 2010 I am still pretty amazed at this publishing streak.

Life is good.
