Some of my images simply make me laugh out loud. This male Eastern Bluebird photo did that because it looks like the bird is levitating over Steve Creek’s yard and bird bath.

I may or may not even laugh about photos like these in my sleep. Yes, I am a sleep laugher! I guess that shows just how much I love to laugh.

What is levitating?

levitated; levitating

intransitive verb
: to rise or float in or as if in the air especially in seeming defiance of gravitation.

Without his wings spread, this male bluebird looks as if he is defying gravity. Or maybe he has taken lessons from leaping lizards?

The male Eastern Bluebird jumped up before he spread his wings to fly away. That’s about all there is to it.

And yet, I laughed. So maybe the image isn’t as simple as it appears.

I’ve enjoyed the bluebirds in Steve’s yard immensely. This male is a great provider for his chicks despite having lost his mate. From all appearances, all three chicks are thriving.

Maybe he isn’t levitating at all. He could be jumping for joy.

I get it, Mr. Bluebird. I jumped for joy when my own young sons grew up and made it on their own. Yours soon will be.

Two blue birds in two days. I am on a streak!

Life is good.
