I simply could not allow any more time to go by without posting an image of this sweet young Eastern Cottontail I photographed in my friend Steve Creek’s yard.

I knew about this cottontail rabbit before I even got to Steve’s house; he’d been watching it since it was really tiny. When I first arrived, this cottontail was pretty skittish and would hide under Steve’s deck.

Before I left, the cottontail rabbit had gotten so used to Steve and me being on the deck that it lost its fear of us. It even eventually stayed put when Rosie, Steve’s Yorkie, was out doing her business. Rosie paid the rabbit no mind, and the rabbit didn’t mind her either.

One day I was able to take this lovely portrait of the cottontail while it nibbled on grasses and dandelions. I could not resist.

There are other cottontails in Steve’s yard and garden, one even tinier than this one was. I enjoyed watching them all. It was wonderful being surrounded by the birds and wildlife day in and day out.

I have several thousand photos to go through and hopefully share a small percentage of them here with you all.

Life is good.

Mia
