Yesterday was super foggy at Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge, but that didn’t stop me from videoing mating Bald Eagles on a snag in the fog.

Watch on YouTube

Before I took the video, the male Bald Eagle had been perched near the female but out in the open. She was behind some small branches on the same branch of the snag. I mostly focused on him because my views of him were unobstructed. Except for the fog.

I do wish that the thin branches hadn’t been in front of the eagles in my video. I’m glad I switched over to video before the “action” began!

I don’t mind fog in my photos, in fact some of my favorite photos of my subjects were taken on very foggy days. The thing is, yesterday morning the fog did make it hard to find my subjects.

Not the Bald Eagles though. By the time I found them, I could see them well enough. Earlier in the morning that might not have been the case.

I wanted to include a photo I had taken of Miner’s Cove at the refuge earlier yesterday morning to show how very foggy it had been. The white arrow in the image I added points to the branch of the snag where I found the Bald Eagles later in the morning.

Life is good.
