January 1, 2020 weather map
So… 2020 has arrived and for me here in northern Utah that has brought gray skies, falling snow, low light, plenty of clouds and wintry weather. There isn’t as much snow on the ground as I thought I would wake up to but it appears to be falling more steadily now.
I hope to be able to get out sometime today to find and photograph birds even if that means just heading to the local ponds for a few minutes or checking out the crabapple trees that are close to home for American Robins, Cedar Waxwings and woodpeckers.

I simply enjoy starting off a new year doing what I love and what I am passionate about even when the weather isn’t the best.
Happy New Year!

A great way to start the new year! I believe that I saw a gaggle of these geese on the edge of the golf course a few days ago. The markings a distinct. Could we have them here? Now I have to go looking for them to get a picture to share with you.
Your picture is special. The dark and light feathers really stand out in the snow. And it’s just casually standing on one foot. Perfect pose for you!
I know this is a relatively easy shot compared to most of your work, but I do think it’s a very good way to start 2020. The first day of the first year of a new decade! Here’s wishing you happy and eventful times as you explore the areas that you travel. Happy 2020!
Happy New Year Mia! Watch out I ‘neak up on you! Lol
Wising a fantastic 2020 for you, your readers, and all the critters in your viewfinder!
A very, very Happy New Year to you. With thanks for the beauty you give us daily.
I wonder if he has cold feet? It was warm last night here in Alberta, the warmest in years and I celebrated outdoors without long johns or sweaters and watched amazing fireworks with tens of thousands of other people. May you find a few “lifers” and have happy times on the birding trails in 2020.
Wishing you all the best for 2020!
My your 2020 be a very birdy year!
Best wishes for 2020! Keep posting those EV corrections. They are very helpful. All the best!
