Hello 2023! I hope that 2023 will be wonderful for each and everyone of us. Right now it isn’t clear what 2023 will bring.
Great Blue Heron in dense fog
In fact, what 2023 will bring is kind of foggy and not quite clear like the heron in the photo above. I’ve seen people say the new year is like a blank sheet of paper. I’m not sure that I see it that way because I do have hopes, dreams, and goals I’d like to reach so the paper isn’t blank for me. There is an outline on that sheet of paper, for me anyway.
I don’t have any resolutions. I just don’t do that to myself.
What I do have this morning is what I want to do and accomplish this year. That includes expanding my skills as a photographer, spending time in the field and soaking up nature, and being the best person I can be. Being authentic. Learning more.
When I woke this morning and opened my blinds to see what the weather is like on this first day of 2023 I saw a fresh blanket of snow. Somehow that seems appropriate.
It is still pitch dark outside and I don’t know what my first bird of the year will be but I do know, that whatever it is, I will be excited to see it. I am anxious to see what 2023 will bring.
May 2023 bring all of you light, love, laughter, joy and birds!
Happy New Year!
Life is good.

Happy New Year, Mia! May 2023 be a great one! 💚
Happy New Year Mia!
Happy New Year 2023. Mine did not start out well either. My touchpad on the laptop quite. So a fast trip to Walmart to purchase a mouse. I hate using one. Any way this morning I started pushing keys and unlocked the problem, so things are much better this morning!!
A few years ago, I saw a collection of photographs taken at Fort DeSoto Park, St. Petersburg, FL. They blew me away. Within a week, I had a cheap camera and zoom lens and pretty soon had sand in my shoes, a sunburn and precious few photographs worth keeping. Your marvelous images inspired me to keep trying. They still do and I still am.
Thank you, Mia McPherson, for your positive example in my life.
(Coincidentally, I ventured out at dawn on this New Year’s day and a blanket of heavy fog covered everything! I tried for some “mood” shots. Being out always beats staying in. Had a great morning.)
Thank you (so much) for that stunning image and your wishes. A very, very Happy New Year to you.
