While looking through my archives yesterday I came across this image of a Vesper Sparrow I photographed last September near a freshwater seep in Box Elder County. I liked the pose of the Vesper Sparrow leaving the Fragrant Sumac so I decided to share it here this morning. The habitat is mostly desert but the freshwater seep and abundant shrubs and grasses in the area are attractive to several species of sparrows during migration. Personally I have photographed at least eleven species of sparrows near that seep.

That September morning was smoky enough that it partially blocked the sunlight and at times caused a color cast to my images. I had to bump up my ISO to obtain fast enough shutter speeds to freeze the action that day.

I took a little over 2,000 images on that smoky September morning and I still haven’t gone through them all. I should because there are some real gems in that folder.

Life is good.
