When I took photos of this Great Egret with a twisted neck and buggy eyes at Fort De Soto I didn’t think I’d still be laughing at them fourteen years later. But I am. Fourteen years exactly to the date.

Great Egret with a twisted neck and buggy eyes, Fort De Soto County Park, Pinellas County, FloridaGreat Egret with a twisted neck and buggy eyes – Nikon D200, handheld, f6.3, 1/1500, ISO 200, Nikkor 80-400mm at 175mm, natural light

We all know the egret wasn’t trying to be goofy, funny or humorous. It was probably looking for lunch from the top of a light on the pier.

Me? I was standing below it and when I looked up I giggled and took photos of the bird.

The twisted neck and buggy eyes of the egret just looked funny to me. Anyone who really knows me, knows that I laugh a lot and that it doesn’t take much to make me laugh. On that note, I thought I’d share a few more captions that might have worked wonderfully well for this Great Egret image:

  1. This is my ‘surprised’ look… all day, every day
  2. Trying to make sense of Monday mornings be like…
  3. When your neck’s got more moves than Jagger
  4. I’m not awkward, I’m just unique
  5. When you’re trying to impress the ladies with your unique style
  6. Trying to keep an eye out for those pesky photographers
  7. When you’re feeling like the black sheep of the egret family
  8. I may be a little kooky, but that’s what makes me a great Egret
  9. Just another day in the life of a Great Egret with a twisted sense of humor
  10. When you’re feeling like a bird that’s been through a tornado

I’m sure there are more funny captions that would work wonderfully with this Great Egret photo. Feel free to take a stab at it!

Life is good.
